Yankee Calculator
Work out returns on 11 bets from four selections
A Yankee is a Lucky 15 without the singles: 6 doubles, 4 trebles and 1 four-fold from four selections. That’s 11 bets, which makes it cheaper than a Lucky 15 but means you need at least two winners to see a return. It’s the right structure when you’re confident in your selections and don’t need the safety net of singles.
The cost difference matters. At £1 unit stake, a Yankee costs £11 versus £15 for a Lucky 15. If all four win at 3/1, 4/1, 5/1 and 6/1, the Yankee returns £1,567 — almost identical to the Lucky 15 because the singles contribute relatively little at those prices. Where the Lucky 15 pulls ahead is when only one or two selections win. The Yankee needs two winners minimum just to get a payout.
Use a Yankee when you’ve got four selections at 2/1 or bigger and you’re backing your judgement across the card. The doubles provide the volume of bets, the trebles deliver meaningful returns, and the four-fold is the bonus. Run the numbers through the calculator before you commit — it’ll show you exactly what each combination of winners returns.
