Frequently Asked Questions

The questions, answered.

Everything punters ask us most — whether the tips are free, how the record is kept, how to stake, and how we pick. Straight answers, no spin.

What is FormDial?

FormDial is a horse racing tips and analysis site. The centrepiece is the Daily Dial — the bets we’re actually having each day, staked, priced and explained, then logged win or lose. It’s reasoned form study, not noise. More about us.

Are the tips free?

Yes — every selection is free, with no paywall and no catch. If you’d like to support the work you can buy us a coffee, but the Daily Dial stays free either way.

Do you use affiliate or bookmaker links?

No. We carry no affiliate links and nothing is sponsored, so a selection is only ever there because we believe in it — never because a bookmaker paid for it. Voluntary reader support keeps it that way.

How do you make money if the tips are free?

We don’t sell tips and we take no affiliate commission. The site is reader-supported through entirely optional Buy Me a Coffee donations — never required, and the tips are identical whether you chip in or not.

What’s your record and strike rate?

Every bet since December 2025 is logged publicly — wins and losses alike — on the results page, so you can judge it for yourself rather than take our word for it. We back value at bigger prices, so winners come in at roughly one in seven; the edge is in the size of the odds, not the strike rate.

How are bets settled in your results?

To the advised price — the odds available when the tip went out — with a Betfair SP column shown alongside for comparison. Each-way bets are recorded at the standard place terms. The full method is on the results page.

How should I stake?

We advise in points, not pounds, so you can scale every bet to your own bank — a point is simply a set fraction of your betting fund. Our staking plan sets it all out in full. Never stake more than you can comfortably afford to lose; staking sensibly is the single best habit a punter can have, so always stay in control.

Do you give a ‘nap’?

Not as a rule. Rather than crown one bet the ‘nap’ each day, we let the stake do the talking — the more we fancy a runner, the more it’s staked. (A nap is tipster-speak for a strongest pick of the day; there’s a full glossary if you need it.)

When is the Daily Dial posted?

It’s published daily, in good time before the racing it covers, so you can take a price rather than scramble at the off.

Do you cover Flat and Jumps?

Both codes, all year round — summer Flat, winter Jumps and the all-weather in between — wherever we think the value is.

Where do the selections come from?

From form study, not whispers: reading the form, the going, the draw, trainer and jockey angles and, above all, the price. We only bet when the odds look bigger than the chance deserves. There’s more on the thinking in our betting guide and the story behind the dial.

How do I follow along?

The easiest way is to subscribe — so you never miss the day’s selections. You can also bookmark the Daily Dial and follow the running record on the results page.

Is this responsible? What about problem gambling?

Betting should be fun, never a chase. We’re an 18+ site, we publish losing runs as openly as winning ones, and we’d always rather you staked small and stayed in control. If it ever stops being fun, please read our responsible gambling page or talk to BeGambleAware.

Still wondering something? The Daily Dial shows the thinking in full — every bet staked, priced and explained.
