Three each-way bets at Thirsk this afternoon — a point on Muker off the high-draw angle, plus two smaller half-point plays later on the card. The full reasoning, the prices and the form behind all three, posted before the off.

A series of tricky, trappy cards today, competitive throughout and a whisker from a no-bet day. But I've landed on one at Yarmouth — an old sprinter on a lenient mark for his new yard, with cobwebs blown off and a jockey upgrade aboard.

One bet today, at Hamilton — a 5f juvenile maiden, and a triple system qualifier with a really interesting angle around the dam and her previous debut winners for the yard. Plus a word on a Sunday at Uttoxeter that rubbed my face in it.

A quick one today: a single bet in the Uttoxeter Bumper, built on a couple of angles with strong pointers. First, though, an honest word on a -4pts day across York, Windsor and Salisbury that had me closing the laptop and walking the dog.

A tougher Saturday card all round — Goodwood especially — but Windsor, York and Salisbury throw up three. Yesterday returned +8pts, with the Bayside Boy progeny line stretching further, and we go again with one of them today.

Short and sweet today — too many rabbit holes for a tricky-looking set of cards. Three bets out of six considered, one full Bet and two Min Bets, so stake accordingly. A handful of others noted in the prose worth a watch too.

Back after a quiet week of big changes down here — and one leaps out today at Musselburgh. A trainer sending his very first flat runner to a course he's only ever raided in jumps, with a top local jockey booked and a price that catches the eye.

Saturday was a day to play with caution and the same discipline holds today, with two chanced at Hamilton — the betting card of the day — both at each-way prices that earn the stake.

Yesterday's card I ducked out of and was glad I did. Today looked just as tough, and from a day I thought I'd be going to war I've somehow come away with just the one. An each-way punt at Thirsk, a filly badly underrated by the handicapper, and a sire-track angle that's been paying for years.

No bet today — nothing leaps off the cards worth the risk. But plenty to talk about first, not least the 40/1 winner we chanced last time, and an unlucky eyecatcher under Ryan Moore well worth keeping on side.

A decent day of racing, especially so at York and it looks a right punters card, too. The sort of day where we could have a bit of a boilover so pay attention to the staking plan as I've tried thinking about how best to play the chances.

Two losers yesterday and on with today. Thapa Vc looks ridiculously over-handicapped at Bath off 60 — a potential penalty kick at 5/2. Plus a small each-way risk on Andrew Balding's well-bred Turret on debut at Lingfield.
